_bm3 The File Collision Window

When you run a profile, if there are any files that might contradict one another, then the File Collision window will appear (note that for scheduled tasks this window does not appear).

In the Advanced settings tab, in Profile Setup, you have the option of asking SyncBack to prompt you if a file is in both the source or destination, but the files are not the same. For example, if you created a backup profile, then run the profile, and edit a file in the source, you would then have a file in the destination that is not the same as the one in the source. On the next run of the profile, if you have configured your profile to be prompted, then a window will appear asking you what action to take for this file.

The window has the filename at the top. If the filename is too long to fit in the edit box, you can resize the window. Information is also shown on the size of the file, it's last modification date & time, and it's hash value (if you have configured the profile to use hashing for file comparisons). There are two sets of information: for the file in the source, and for the file in the destination. Below this you are clearly told what the differences between the files are, e. g. 'The destination file is larger'.

There are a number of options available to you.

_bm11 Use Source: The source file will replace the destination file.

_bm11 Use Source Always: The source file will replace the destination file, and if there are any more files which are different, then source file will replace the destination file. You will not be prompted again for the rest of the profiles run.

_bm11 Use Destination: The destination file will replace the source file.

_bm11 Use Destination Always: The destination file will replace the source file, and if there are any more files which are different, then destination file will replace the source file. You will not be prompted again for the rest of the profiles run.

_bm11 Skip: No action will be taken with this file. The file will not be copied or deleted, and it will be ignored.

_bm11 Skip Always: If there are any more files that are different, then no action will be taken, and you will not be prompted again for the rest of the profiles run.

Click the appropriate button to close the window and continue.
